i welcome...

Welcome to iknit...ifelt...

This blog has been a long time in the making. At first i needed to think of a title...a bit of a daunting challenge... a bit like finding the best yarn, the best fleece, the best pattern, or the best yarn shop..... it needed to be representative of me and what i enjoy... i like to knit, i like to felt, and i really like to have fun... the title happened, and i like....I hope you enjoy what i say...what i knit...what i felt... what i design.

i finished....

I wonder why we procrastinate? There are some things that are worth procrastinating about, like the dishes, the laundry, the garden... but my question is really about why do we procrastinate about our knitting??? Why, when there is only one thumb left to knit do we postpone knitting that thumb? ... Why is there the "one sock syndrome?" Why don't we sew on the buttons for that goregous cardigan? The simple answer... i don't know, but i am good at it.

Could it be that we wait because we don't want to finish? Could it be that we wait so, that on a long endless weekend, we can boast about finishing 3, 4, maybe 5 projects? Could it simply be that we tire of the yarn, that pattern, that project? There must be a simple answer, but i don't know...

Do you?

i care

My friend Ruth is ill. I should say, our friend Ruth. She has cancer. She is a quilter. We needed to take care of her the best way we could, to hug her and hold her and to let her know we love her. We made her this quilt. We made it for our friend Ruth. We are her friends from the Tompkins County Quilters guild. It's our hands and our hearts letting her know how much we love her and to hug her tight!

I'll share...

Like i said... the thumb has been a bit of a challenge, but i think i've got it by george! This is a riot to knit (yeah right...) all kidding aside. I've just the thumb to finish! I've had to alter the pattern a bit, placing some decreases on the purl rows prior to casting off, but it fits my hand quite well... in fact, i think I'll finish typing, and finish the thumb. I did more than finish the thumb, i finished the whole dang thing. I wonder why it has taken me so long, was it because i didn't want the fun to end? or was it because i procrastinate, or perhaps it was because i was having so much fun wearing one mitt, that i didn't need two?

i am back!

With the Christmas Holidays over, I've decided to tackle some smaller projects. How satisfying to have something started and finished in one day. My first day project was the caera cowl, a free pattern download found on ravelry. It's a 50-50 alpaca/wool blend. it held the cables nicely and is quite soft. For some reason it looks better on my "model" than me.

My next day project was the fake-isle hat by Amy King I found this pattern on Ravelry as well. In case you haven't noticed, I'm a big ravelry fan. The site is amazing for those of you that haven't explored it, but be warned... have big cup of hot coffee cause once you are on a ravelry adventure, it's hard to turn back. Notice my new model... my favorite had to go to school today, so her bear is the next best thing.

My next, yes there is yet another, but i'm only going to show you a smattering of color. You see this project isn't a one day project... Its' taken me a day to figure out the...."thumb".

I'm not square

This hat is yet another wonderful pattern from Brooklyntweed. The pattern is called "Turn a Square" and it available on ravelry or at his blog. It was a fast and easy knit, probably doable in an evening. It didn't take a lot of yarn... in fact i was able to get three hats out of two skeins. It was knit with cascade 220, and Plymouth BOKU. As nice as this hat is, "i" think the model , makes the hat!!!
